Some Interesting Details
Beautiful, M. Kasal Praha string puppet made in Czechoslovakia in the period between 1940’s and 1960’s. Marionettes by Milos Kasal Kasal, originally a construction engineer, transformed his lifetime passion for 1920s toy marionettes into a business, re-creating puppets from the 1920s molds and creating new characters of his own, including figures from children’s literature and well-known movie characters. He offers over 60 different characters. His marionettes have performed in several CAMT shows, including “Hamlet,” “Golem,” “The Life and Times of Lee Harvey Oswald,” “Rusalka, the Little Rivermaid” and “The Bass Saxophone.” Handmade in Prague, his miniature marionettes have head, hands and feet cast in durable, non-toxic, sawdust/resin material and hand painted by the artist. The bodies are constructed of wood and wire, with a simple mechanism for controlling the puppets. Intricate costumes are hand-made by Mrs. Kasal.
