Description
This charming and rare green painted cast iron kitchen scale with round metal pan was made by George Salter & Co. Ltd., West Bromwich, Staffordshire, England. Scale works ~ can be calibrated with a small screw on the top under the original metal plate.
Original paint has chips due to age (circa 1930s) and use. The face of the scale is the original creamy white color that now has a lovely patina but signs of its age, as well as the Salter brand logos; original black dial. The 22 cm diameter pan is tarnished due to age. This piece was used in the English kitchen to weigh out ingredients for cooking. Scale is heavy; cast iron. Scale with round metal frame to hold the pan measures 30 cm tall x 22.5 cm wide; face measures 19 m in diameter.
